Terms of Use

What Tape is, what it isn't, and what we each agree to when you use it.

Effective date: August 1, 2026  ·  Tape is provided by Ozar.io

The most important paragraph: Tape is a personal expense-logging tool, not a financial adviser, not a bank, and not a budgeting service that makes decisions for you. Nothing in the app constitutes financial advice. Tape simply writes down what you tell it — and shows you what you set and what you've spent.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By downloading or using Tape ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What Tape is — and is not

Tape is a private money assistant you talk to. You say what you spent; Tape hears the amount, the merchant and the category, and files it on your device.

Tape is not:

  • a bank, payment processor, or financial institution;
  • a source of financial, investment, tax, or legal advice;
  • a credit or lending service;
  • a budgeting service that invents rules for you — you choose the budgets, if any.

Entries are recorded as you dictate them. You are responsible for checking that what Tape records is accurate before you rely on it.

3. License

Ozar.io grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the app on your own Apple devices for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.

You may not: copy, modify, or distribute the app; reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract its source code; remove or alter any marks or notices; or use the app in any way that violates law or these terms.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Review what Tape records — especially the confirmation pill and review sheet — and correct anything that is wrong.
  • Keep your device secure, including enabling the optional Face ID lock if you want extra protection.
  • Do not use Tape for unlawful purposes or to record data you are not entitled to record.
  • Keep the app and your device updated, and follow any usage guidance shown in the app.

5. No account, no data

Tape has no account system and collects no data (see the Privacy Policy). Because there is no account, there is nothing to suspend, delete, or transfer — your data lives on your device. Use the one-tap CSV export if you want a copy, and remember that uninstalling the app removes its local data store.

6. Intellectual property

Tape, the Tape name, the Tape icon, the orb, the tape design and all related branding, design and code are owned by Ozar.io or its licensors. Nothing in these terms gives you any rights to them beyond the licence in section 3.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Tape does not provide financial advice. No content in the app constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing about your spending history should be relied on as such. The accuracy of voice recognition and receipt reading can vary with your voice, language, and the quality of what you scan — always review what Tape records.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ozar.io and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim arising from the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the app, or one US dollar if you paid nothing.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page will change, and we will note significant changes in the app. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
